It's fantastic news that Surrey Heath now has four Green Flag Award winning parks in our Borough.
Windlemere Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) in West End and Frimley Green Rec have been awarded Green Flag status, joining Frimley Lodge Park and Lightwater Country Park in achieving this award.
Frimley Lodge Park has now been awarded this status for 23 consecutive years, and Lightwater Country Park is celebrating its fifth year of retaining the award.
The Green Flag Award scheme is managed by Keep Britain Tidy, under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, recognises well-managed parks and green spaces. With four parks having been awarded this status, this reflects the efforts and hard work of the team that look after and maintain these spaces, so a huge thanks and congratulations to them.
Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award Scheme Manager, Paul Todd MBE, said:
“I would like to congratulate everyone involved at Surrey Heath in achieving four Green Flag Awards. These locations are vital green space for the community in Surrey Heath, bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles.
"The staff and volunteers do so much to ensure that they maintain the high standards of the Green Flag Award and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.”
