Surrey Heath Borough Council has refurbished and cleaned over a hundred PCs for local families and schools in need of computer equipment.
The PCs are supplied with all cables, screen, keyboard and mouse and a new Wifi card. This will enable children to access online school work as well as allowing the families to access digital tools and the internet,
The council has also supplied PCs to young people identified by The Workshop Camberley, which supports young people aged 18 to 24 into work. These will help the recipients as they search for jobs online.
Cllr. Shaun Garrett, Economic Development & Transformation Portfolio Holder said:
“This is a brilliant initiative from SHBC and many thanks to the staff involved. By recycling and repurposing the Council’s IT equipment we are supporting families in need across the borough and also young people as they take their first steps into work.
