John Medhurst is a West End Parish Councillor.
Born in West End, John has served on the Parish Council since 1992 - possibly the longest serving Parish Councillor in its history. He is director of WJ Medhurst (Developments) Ltd, established in West End in 1979, which now concentrates on supplying building materials to local builders. He also does consultancy work for local councils regarding specialist drainage works and installed the drainage on the West End recreation ground back in 1990. With his knowledge of grounds maintenance he oversees the upkeep of the recreation ground in West End.
As W.J. Medhurst Promotions, he carries on his late Grandfather's tradition – Horace Medhurst – of showing Shire horses, including Fullers Brewery Shire horses over the summer at various shows and fetes in the South of England. Since 1966 he has played a significant role in the West End and Windlesham Agricultural and Horticultural Society, to which he is Vice - Chairman. John is also on the committee of the Chobham Show and has served on the executive committee of the Surrey County Agricultural Society since 2002.
