With the upcoming General Election on Thursday 4th July, it is important to be aware of some key deadline dates in order to make sure you can vote.
With the Surrey Heath Parliamentary constituency covering two Borough Councils - part of Guildford Borough Council and the whole of Surrey Heath Borough Council - you can register to vote or apply for a postal vote directly with your respective local authority, or alternatively through the Government website here.
Tuesday 18th June - Voter Registration Deadline
To vote in the 2024 General Election you need to be registered to vote by midnight on 18th June 2024.
Wednesday 19th June - Deadline for Postal Vote Applications
There are many ways to vote. The deadline for a new postal or postal proxy vote - and any changes to existing postal votes - need to be in by 5pm.
Wednesday 26th June - Deadline for Voter Authority Certificate Applications and Proxy Vote Applications
When you register to vote, you’ll be asked whether you have Photo ID or if you want to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate to vote in the 2024 General Election is 5pm on Wednesday 26th June.
The deadline for applying for a new proxy vote (except for emergency proxies) is also 5pm.
