Surrey Heath Borough Council has appointed Nick Steevens as its new Interim Chief Executive, following unanimous approval by Full Council yesterday (Wednesday 15th May).
This announcement comes following the previous Chief Executive, Damian Roberts, resignation. Damian leaves the Council to take up a new role as the Chief Executive of Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council.
Nick currently serves as the Council's Strategic Director for Environment and Community, and will take up the new role from the beginning of July. Nick originally joined the Council in January 2022, before that he worked for various local authorities including Merton London Borough Council, Hart District Council and Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council.
Commenting, Cllr Jonny Cope, St. Paul's Ward, said:
"Following the previously announced departure of the Council’s current Chief Executive, Damien Roberts, an interim replacement has now been announced.
"Nick Steevens, currently the council's Strategic Director for Environment and Community, will take up the role on 1 July 2024. I’m looking forward to working with Nick in his new role."
