Local residents may be aware that the new primary school at Mindenhurst will open its doors to local children on 7th September.
Yesterday, I visited the school to say hi to the teaching staff, who were all exceptionally busy unpacking and getting the school ready when the children arrive in under two weeks.
Getting the school ready has been fraught with a number of issues, not least of all the fact the school opens at the same time the Environmental Improvement works begin on Deepcut Bridge Road.
Kite Academy Head Sam Armstrong (pictured with me) has attended weekly meetings with representatives from the County/Borough Council, SKANSKA and me to look at ways to mitigate the traffic issues that will come from drop off and pick up, which we have now ironed out thanks to some creative thinking and swift action from the various parties involved. A huge thanks to everyone involved for pulling out all the stops to make this happen, including our friends at The Frog at Mindenhurst who have been so helpful.
Also, a big thank you to Sam and her team for getting the school ready during their summer break.
The new School at Mindenhurst is something to be very proud of. I have visited several times at various stages of completion, but seeing it yesterday with all the desks the children will sit at and with beautiful books they will read and meeting some of the teaching staff that will work with the children was a very rewarding experiance.
Sam told me that they still have lots of space for any children wishing to have a place at the school, so if you have just moved to our community and don't have a school place sorted, the school is state of the art, and your children will be looked after by superb teaching staff who are incredibly dedicated to their jobs.
I have so many excellent schools in my County Council division and I could no be more proud to have another one added to the fantastic educational facilities for local families to choose from.
