Ahead of Guy Fawkes night, Michael Gove MP met with Anne Brummer from Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue to find out more about the project Amazing Grace.
The Amazing Grace project aims to halt the decline of wild hedgehogs in the UK, and enable them to establish healthy, thriving, and sustainable populations in villages up and down the country.
Due to the manner in which hedgehogs live, a bonfire pile makes an attractive resting spot for shelter. Therefore, it is vitally important to check that there are no hedgehogs or other animals resting in a bonfire pile before it is set alight.
Commenting, Michael said:
"Remember, remember the 5 November and, more importantly, make sure your fun does not come at the expense of our animal neighbours. A huge thank you to Anne Brummer for all your brilliant work!"
