For some time, the lay-by on the A322 running past Bagshot has been used as a rest stop by individuals, often those driving motor homes, HGVs and other such large vehicles.
Local residents have been concerned about this, due to the mess that is often left behind and the anti-social behaviour generated. Surrey Heath Borough Cllr Valerie White and Surrey County Councillor Mike Goodman together with Windlesham Parish Council have been pushing for greater restrictions for this site to be used a pit stop. Following regular correspondence with Michael Gove MP and work by Michael, the lay-by will no longer be a rest stop for those using the A322 as a cut through in Surrey Heath.
Commenting, Michael said:
"I’m delighted that the Surrey Heath Local Area Committee have responded to my campaign to stop trucks using the lay-by on the A322 in Bagshot near Freemantle Road. The mess and anti-social behaviour were intolerable and I’m glad our campaign has brought this to an end."
