Parish Councillors donned waders and wellies to clean up the village pond at West End recreation ground.
With the water level slightly lower in the summer sun, Parish Councillors Graham Alleway, Dave Elliott, John Medhurst, Giles Lowe and Tony Henderson volunteered their time to tackle the invasive weeds and pull out rubbish from the pond, keeping maintenance costs down for the Parish Council.
Commenting, Cllr Tony Henderson said:
"A busy day with some fellow Parish Councillors earlier this week when we carried out a tidy up of the pond on the Recreation Ground. The invasive weed was removed along with a lot of rubbish that had been dumped in the pond, including some beer cans and wine bottle, shopping bag and traffic cone!
"For reference it would be good if people took their rubbish home but failing that we do have bins on the rec. The low water level meant we could get into the pond but now we need some rain to top up the pond."
