Michael is delighted to announce that the winners of his 2022 Christmas Card competition are:
- Group 1: Dylan, in Year 1 at Lyndhurst School, Camberley – Robin
- Group 2: Matilda, in Year 4 at Hall Grove Primary School, Bagshot – Christmas Eve
In mid-October, Michael wrote to all the Primary Schools in Surrey Heath, inviting them to submit entries for this year’s competition. On this occasion, he asked his friend, Gyles Brandreth, broadcaster, writer and former politician, to take up the challenging task of choosing two winning designs from an amazing collection of inventive and colourful creations.
The entries were divided into two groups: Group 1 for pupils in Reception to Year 2; and Group 2 for pupils in Year 3 to Year 6. After the competition closed on 21 November, Michael sent the entries off to Gyles, and after careful thought, he chose the designs by Dylan and Matilda.
Their artwork will appear on Michael’s Christmas cards, and Dylan and Matilda have been rewarded with some Parliament-themed presents.
Commenting, Michael said:
"One thing I always look forward to at this time of year is my Christmas card competition. It is always such a great pleasure to look through all the wonderful and creative designs from pupils throughout Surrey Heath.
"My friend, Gyles Brandreth, kindly agreed to take on the task of judging the competition for me. He said that he loved all the entries, and that after a lot of Christmassy cogitation, he finally chose the brilliant designs by Dylan and Matilda."
