On Sunday 8th November, All Saints Church in Lightwater hosted a Remembrance Service that was attended by a limited number of people, including representatives from the local branch of the Royal British Legion, the Chair of Windlesham Parish Council, Katia Malcaus Cooper, and the Scouts and Guides.
The service was led by Rev. Mark Wallace and included readings, prayers, hymns, and the laying of wreaths at the war memorial outside the church. The service was also live-streamed on the church’s website and Facebook page for those who could not attend in person.
A service is planned for Wednesday next week at the Windlesham Field of Remembrance at 11:00, where wooden crosses bearing the names of local service personnel fallen in service will be planted. This has been organised by the Windlesham Royal British Legion Branch.
Commenting, Katia said:
"Today I had the honour to represent Windlesham Parish Council at the service of remembrance in Lightwater, with me were Cllr James Harris and Cllr Sharon Galliford. It was a different type of service and marked what has been so far a peculiar year to say the least, but David Sigsworth did an amazing job at leading this very important event."
