Monday afternoon I had my first meeting with officers as Chair of Performance and Finance Scrutiny where we laid out plans for the coming year. In the evening councillors had Licensing Training which is always an interesting subject.
Tuesday myself and Cllr Lewis Mears took part in a virtual meeting with Surrey County Council to discuss what can be done around safety issues on Middleton Road and Upper Park Road railway bridge. This was off the back of a successful petition which was started by residents. Some interesting conversations were had and in the coming months, there will hopefully be more updates. Massive thanks to Trefor Hogg and Cllr Kevin Deanus for their support. That evening I took part in External Partnerships where we got our now regular updates from Accent Housing. There were some interesting points that came out of that. Myself and Lewis will update you in the coming weeks as to our plans to start being more proactive in the way we deal with Accent Housing issues and casework.
Wednesday I spent the day in Birmingham as part of my day job, travelling home to join another virtual training session this time on Constitution Decision Making.
Thursday morning myself and Lewis had a virtual meeting with officers to discuss an ongoing issue which we needed some clarification on.
Today I went along to the Login Lounge to an event celebrating the opening of the Camberley Branch of Couchman Hanson Solicitors. It was good to catch-up with Paul Marcus and The Peter Gordon Page. This was followed by a lunch meeting with Michael Gove, Stuart Black and Trefor Hogg where we were able to discuss a number of local issues.
At the end of the day, I am here to help and support residents of the Old Dean Ward with any issues they might have. Please don't hesitate to contact me via email should you have any issues [email protected].
I hope you all have a lovely weekend to spend with your families in this gorgeous weather! Go for a hike, have a picnic, or just relax in the sun. Whatever you do, make sure to enjoy each other's company!
