Last Friday, Michael Gove MP joined locals at the Rainbow Café in Camberley to learn about Surrey Heath Age Concern (SHAC) and its charitable work to enhance the lives of older people in the Borough.
The Rainbow Café, which is run by SHAC’s Charity Manager Gill Gibson, is open 6 days a week in Camberley town centre, providing opportunities for elderly residents to socialise and form new friendships.
The Café usually holds 'Tea and Memories' parties on Tuesday afternoons, turning the Rainbow Café into a pop up Vintage Tea Room with music and entertainment. With plenty of tea, sandwiches and scones, Michael chatted with Gill and patrons who spoke about the positive impact the Café has.
Commenting, Michael said:
“It’s wonderful to see so many people enjoying this fantastic Café and its warm atmosphere. Gill and her team of volunteers do a brilliant job, and I very much encourage local residents to visit and support the Café.”
