Across Surrey Heath, remembrance services were held with residents paying their respects to all those that serve, have served and have sacrificed for our freedom today.
The Mayor of Surrey Heath Cllr Sarah Jane Croke attended a morning community service of remembrance St. Peter's Church, Frimley. In the afternoon, the Mayor attended a remembrance service at St. Michael's Church, Camberley.
After the service at St. Michael’s Church, a Remembrance Parade commanded by The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and comprising of local cadet and uniformed groups, including Gurkha veterans from the Nepalese Society, travelled along London Road.
Wreaths were laid for the fallen at the War Memorial outside the entrance to the RMAS by the Mayor, Michael Gove MP, Cllr Alan McClafferty - Leader of the Council, Dave Kemp - Chairman of the Camberley Branch of the Royal British Legion, Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Hull - Commanding Officer Sandhurst Support Unit, Sergeant Jon Castell - Surrey Police, and Peter Glover - South East Coast Ambulance Service.
Commenting, the Mayor of Surrey Heath Cllr Sarah Jane Croke said:
“It was an honour to lay a wreath on behalf of SHBC at this incredibly moving event, and pay our respects to all those who have fallen in war.
"Many thanks to everyone who took part in the parade, where we saw such a variety of local groups, and also to everyone who came out and supported the parade by lining the route.”
