Businesses in Camberley attended an event yesterday with the Mayor of Surrey Heath Cllr Sarah Jane Croke, to celebrate the town winning Enterprise Nation's UK's Top Town for Business Award.
The award aimed to highlight the towns that supported entrepreneurs through the pandemic and beyond, and Camberley impressed judges with its outstanding support for entrepreneurial spirit. Some of the factors that contributed to Camberley receiving the award:
- A brand new co-working space, the Login Business Lounge, which offers a street food café, a licensed wine bar and an entertainment space with a stage and a six-metre video wall.
- Excellent 4G and 5G coverage and a fast-growing reputation as a digital playground for technology developers working within retail.
- A Pop-Up Shop Project, run by Surrey Heath Borough Council and its delivery partners, which supports short-term tenants to try out opportunities in the town centre.
- Various business support programmes, such as grant schemes, shop front improvement schemes, free training, newsletters, networking opportunities and business awards, run by Surrey Heath Borough Council and the Business Improvement District, Collectively Camberley.
Commenting, Councillor Colin Dougan, Deputy Leader and Lead for Economic Development, said:
"We are delighted that Camberley has won the UK’s ‘Best Town For Business’ Award, and we thank all of Camberley’s supporters for voting.
"We are very proud of how resilient our town has been over the course of the COVID pandemic, not only maintaining the majority of businesses, but also seeing the opening of new and diverse range of commercial enterprises, including cafes, an unique co-working space, and independent boutiques."
