With that Fryday feeling, today marks National Fish and Chip Day, the nation's favourite dish!
National Fish and Chip Day commemorates this iconic British dish, and it was such a staple that the Government even went to such measures to ensure that its supply was safeguarded during the First World War, and even exempted the dish from rationing during World War II, when Winston Churchill described the meal as “the good companions”.
Whilst we prefer cod down here in the South, and those up North might say haddock is better, there's no doubt as a nation this British dish is a fundamental part of everyday life with sales over £1.2 billion of the meal last year alone!
One thing is certain, vinegar always goes on first.
