The Mill Bourne is one of two small rivers that flow through Chobham, the other being the Bourne. At times of heavy, prolonged rain, flood warnings are often put in place as the rivers can burst their banks.
Michael Gove MP joined County Councillor Richard Tear, Bagshot, Windlesham and Chobham, to meet with local residents alongside the Environment Agency and officers from the Borough and County Council, to discuss recent flooding on Philpot Lane.
Commenting, Michael said:
"Earlier today, I was in Chobham to take part in a meeting concerning flooding on Philpot Lane with representatives from Surrey Heath Borough Council, Surrey County Council, and the Environment Agency, together with thirteen local residents.
"It was most helpful that all the interested parties were brought together for a productive discussion on the overall picture and the possible action to take. A huge thank you to Chobham resident, Carole Mancini, for organising."
Cllr Richard Tear, said:
"Delighted to be able to support Carole and her fellow residents. Many thanks to the officers from the Environment Agency, Surrey County Council and Surrey Heath Borough Council who gave up their time to inform us and for taking actions away from the meeting to try and alleviate the flooding.
"Last but not least thank you Michael for your support and demonstrating once again how to master a brief, something you do so well."
