The votes have now been fully counted in the Surrey Heath Parliamentary constituency, with a turnout of 66.63%, and the Liberal Democrats candidate Alasdair Pinkerton has been duly elected.
Since being first selected by the Surrey Heath Conservative Association thirty days ago, Ed McGuinness has ran a tireless campaign across the constituency, engaging and speaking with local residents, businesses and organisations. Unfortunately, it was not to be as the Conservative Party nationally has fallen to its worst-ever election defeat.
Congratulations to Al Pinkerton and Surrey Heath Liberal Democrats on their election success, and we wish Al the very best in settling into his new role as our Member of Parliament and representing the constituency.
Commenting, Ed said:
"Massive congratulations to Al Pinkerton the new MP for Surrey Heath who will be a dedicated public servant.
"I am sorry I couldn’t bring it over the line for the Conservatives here but my team at Surrey Heath Conservative Association have been utterly phenomenal.
"It’s been a great campaign here and I’ve had the best of times. For anyone involved with this - thank you for the opportunity to serve."
