It has been a challenging summer for Surrey Heath Conservative Association. COVID restrictions have inevitably changed the way we work. Out went traditional canvassing and face-to-face social events. Instead we had to learn how to conduct business online and to get better in our use of social media.
Our focus has been on communicating with our communities to better understand their priorities and changing local issues.
The Government has provided £1 million extra support to Surrey Heath to tackle COVID-19.
15,700 jobs in the borough have been protected via the furlough scheme. Businesses too have been protected by the Government. The self-employed in Surrey Heath have received £14.3 million and businesses a further £16.5 million in business grants and £55.5 million in Bounce Back loans.
48,000 discounted meals were eaten in Surrey Heath as part of the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
Many of our members and councillors have been busy supporting vulnerable groups in their communities.
The office remains open, but with restrictions. Please phone ahead if you wish to visit. This allows us to stagger visiting times and ensure that staff and volunteers remain safe.
