Sturt Road Rail Bridge is to close from Tuesday 6th August to Friday 23rd August to allow for drainage improvement works to be carried out.
Whilst the road will be closed to all vehicles, pedestrian access will be maintained.
Pedestrian access will be maintained.
Commenting, local Cllr Paul Deach said:
"I know these works will be exceptionally disruptive to local residents; however, they are essential to rectifying some of the long-standing problems with the drainage system that cause flooding at this location every winter. Local residents have set this as a priority for me, and as such I have managed to assist in securing funding for this project.
"To minimise disruptions, I worked with lead engineers and the council's passenger transport group to ensure the work is carried out during the school holidays.
"Please note that the current minor leak at this location will be investigated during these works.
"I want to thank local residents for their support and understanding while these essential works are on ongoing."
