Surrey Police's Policing Your Community event in Camberley outlined the changed approach Chief Constable Tim De Meyer and PCC Lisa Townsend are taking to local policing here in Surrey, including a stronger approach to domestic violence.
Trefor Hogg asked the Chief Constable to be even tougher on this issue, recognising the damage it does to families, and to review recent cases where the previous policy may have failed victims.
Commenting, Cllr Lewis Mears said:
"Yesterday was the community Q&A session with our PCC’s office and local police force. Cllr Trefor Hogg, Cllr Shaun Garrett and I were there to represent Old Dean and Camberley East. It was also great to see our Lightwater and Bagshot councillor team - Cllr Valerie White, Cllr Katia Malcaus Cooper and Cllr James Harris.
"Specifically, Shaun, Trefor and I were interested in developments in automatic enforcement of noisy and disruptive cars, how the Police are going to increase their visibility and trust, and reviewing recent cases of domestic abuse and violence where there is evidence to act on.
"We will be getting in touch with residents directly to feedback the answers we received."
