Farnborough 6th Form College has had it's latest building, the Simon Jarvis Lecture Theatre, opened today by Michael Gove MP.
The new 200 seater lecture theatre is the latest building to be opened as part of the college's investment programme exceeding £50 million over the past 20 years. The lecture theatre is named after the outgoing Principal, Simon Jarvis, who prior to being principal, was a member of the faculty for some twenty years, before taking over Dr, John J Guy. Under Simon's eight-year tenure, many of the development projects have been successfully completed, with Michael even opening the John Guy building back in 2010 as well.
Farnborough 6th College is a leading local college in the area with students from across Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey attending.
Commenting, Michael said:
"It was wonderful to have visited Farnborough College last Friday morning, and I was delighted to have been asked to cut the ribbon and formally open the new Simon Jarvis Lecture Theatre – an absolutely superb building.
"The building is aptly named in tribute to an inspirational figure who has given 28 years of service and leadership to the college!"
