The brick planter in Obelisk Way, Camberley, has been repaired thanks to Councillor Trefor Hogg using funding from his Highways Allocation.
The brickwork of the planter, which dates back to the 1970's, had completely separated in several places and the walls were leaning dangerously outwards.
Commenting, Trefor said:
"Looking good Obelisk Way. I'm glad I demanded a 'proper brickie' to do the work involved in replacing the cracked and dangerous planter. The new brickwork has been designed to be stronger than the previous brickwork and it greatly improves that part of Obelisk Way.
"The Camberley Eye, Surrey Highways, Surrey Heath Borough Council's Officers and I are trying hard to get the various bits of damage to Camberley's High Street repaired. That is proving more than slightly difficult, with continuing damage caused by heavy vehicles parking on the footpath, and the repeated broken promises of SSE the utility company which tore up the paving outside Santander and the Duke of York, damaged the kerbs and then filled in the resulting holes with some particularly ugly and badly laid tarmac.
"Some of those vehicles have been identified - their owners can expect a bill and if we get photographs of any others, they will be added to the list.
"SSE the utility company that did all that damage, has been given one last chance to get it right by November the 10th. If they don't do good enough a job or it isn't completed satisfactorily by then, it is highly likely that the work required will be done for them and they will be charged the full costs involved. That will include the officer time wasted chasing them to do what the law obliges them to do."
