Surrey County Council (SCC) is investing £6.25 million into redeveloping Chobham and Lingfield Fire Stations, and are asking local residents to have their say on proposals.
The proposals will enable improved health and safety for crews, new gym facilities for crews, a community space to enable engagements with residents and a second fire and rescue vehicle bay, to better serve communities.
Local residents are being invited to the stations to hear more about the investments and ask questions on:
- Wednesday 1 February 16:00 to 20:00 at Chobham Fire Station
- Thursday 2 February 16:00 to 20:00 at Lingfield Fire Station
Commenting, Richard Tear, County Councillor for Bagshot, Windlesham and Chobham, said:
"We are lucky to have and have had some marvellous firefighters at Chobham over the years, the new, improved facilities will be a suitable base for them to work from.
"I would encourage residents in Chobham to take part and give their feedback – this is after all, a community fire station.”
Natalie Bramhall, SCC Cabinet Member for Property and Waste, also added:
“Teams have worked incredibly hard on designing fire stations that can sit at the centre of the community, whilst being a fit for the future workplace for our fire and rescue service. Please take a few minutes to have your say.”
Dan Quin, Chief Fire Officer of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), said:
“The current fire stations at both Chobham and Lingfield have served crews and communities well, but it’s now time to improve upon the facilities available and thanks to investment from Surrey County Council, we are now able to do this.”
The aim is to begin construction in October 2023 and completion in October 2024.
The consultations are open from 1 February 2023 until 15 February 2023. Visit www.surreysays.co.uk/sfrs/chobhamfirestation and/or www.surreysays.co.uk/sfrs/lingfieldfirestation to find out more and have your say.
