A new pelican crossing outside Ravenscote Junior School in Frimley has been officially opened by Michael Gove MP and the Chair of Surrey County Council, Helyn Clack.
This new crossing had long been campaigned for by County Councillor Edward Hawkins, and local campaigners Louise Grainger. This crossing will provide a safer route for children and families to access the school, help reduce speeds outside, and encourage children and families to walk, cycle or scoot during the school run.
Michael had the honour of cutting the ribbon, and expressed his gratitude Edward Hawkins and Louise Grainger, for their hard work in campaigning for the crossing to be installed.
Commenting, Michael said:
"Earlier today, I was thrilled to take part in the official opening of the new signalled crossing at Ravenscote Junior School. I am absolutely delighted that we finally have a safe crossing for the children, and I would like to say a huge thank you to local County Councillor, Edward Hawkins, and to local campaigner, Louise Grainger, for their brilliant campaigning, and also to Surrey County Council for providing the much-needed funding."
