Unfortunately, safety risks from reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) has impacted some schools and colleges locally.
The school hall at Shawfield Primary School, in Ash, has a small amount of RAAC present. The school will remain open for teaching as classrooms are unaffected.
The school is working with Surrey County Council and the DfE to ensure there is no impact to the children's education.
Whilst in Hampshire, there are many students locally that attend Farnborough College of Technology (FCoT).
The main building at FCoT has had to close due to safety concerns.
Thanks to Rushmoor Conservatives and Rushmoor Borough Council, alternative venues for teaching have been sourced that are a short walk from the college's main campus.
Principal CEO Virginia Barrett and her team have worked tirelessly to ensure that all teaching on a face-to-face basis will be able to go ahead at the beginning of the new term, with minimal disruption.
FCoT will be holding an online information session for students and parents to understand the changes being made tomorrow evening at 19:00.
Details on registration for the event can be found here.
