Progress is being on redeveloping the pavilion on the Recreation Ground in Lightwater.
A meeting was held between Lightwater Councillors and Fields in Trust to discuss the re-development, with all sides committed to ensuring that the pavilion becomes a facility for the community.
Commenting, Cllr Katia Malcaus Cooper said:
"As many will know, I have been a big advocate of the redevelopment of the pavilion on the Recreation Ground for sometime.
"What pavilion? What Recreation Ground? The boarded up building on the field behind the Church.
"Many don’t know that the field is actually managed by the Parish Council which is the management trustee with Fields in Trust being the Custodian Trustee.
"The Parish’s ambition to redevelop it has been somewhat thwarted by the very narrow conditions of the charity which is for outdoors sport. The charity used to be called 'national playing field association'. There have been numerous attempts to unblock this situation over the years.
"I am really pleased to report that this week Councillors from the Lightwater Committee of WPC had a very productive meeting with Fields in Trust which will potentially result in some, if not all the blockages being removed."
