The Boundary Commission for England has published it's proposals for reconfiguring Parliamentary Constituencies in England in 2023.
Under these proposals, seats have been redrawn to have between 69,724 to 77,062 registered voters each, to ensure that there is greater fairness in terms of representation. This will mean in the South East, we will gain an additional seven seats to factor population changes.
For Surrey Heath, these proposals mean our boundary would change, losing Ash, Tongham and Ash Vale - as outlined by the current constituency map in blue. These would be replaced by Pirbright and Normandy - as outlined by the proposed constituency map in red. The Borough of Surrey Heath will remain unchanged.
The total number of seats in Westminster will remain at 650, but with the population changes across the UK, England will gain ten additional MPs to have 543 in total, Wales will lose eight MPs to have 32 in total, and Scotland will lose two MPs to have 57 in total.
Responses to these proposals should be submitted to the Commission by August 2nd here: bcereviews.org.uk/node/6488
