Heathpark Wood in Windlesham has long been a site of contentious planning applications, with different proposals from developers to turn the woodland into new housing.
Part of the site was originally identified as a Housing Reserve site in the Surrey Heath Local Plan 1985. This was then carried over to the 1994 plan. It then formed part of the 'Land east of Heathpark Drive' Housing Reserve site identified by Policy H8 in the Local Plan 2000, which was then been saved.
Local residents in Windlesham, including Brian May, have sought to protect this land from development.
Michael Gove MP attended the at the Half Moon to see the planned development of Heathpark Wood in Windlesham for himself.
This is a complex planning application with 32 conditions that need to be met to comply.
The planning application can be viewed on the Surrey Heath Borough Council website.
