Surrey Heath is the most wooded Borough in the whole of England, with an estimated tree cover of 36.1%, and it vitally important that our woodland is preserved and enhanced.
Recently, the woodland between Devonshire Drive and Larchwood Glade in Camberley was sold with the prospect of potential housing development. County Councillor for Camberley East, Trefor Hogg, worked together with Cllr Paul Deach (a professional drone operator) to undertake an aerial survey of the site, and through working with the Tree Officer at Surrey Heath Borough Council, have obtained a tree preservation order for this woodland.
This preservation order comes from the Council having adopted a comprehensive Tree Strategy and Action Plan back in April.
Commenting, Trefor said:
"Thanks to some very rapid work by Surrey Heath's Tree Officer I'm glad to say that the Woodland South of 29 London Road now has a much improved level of legal protection which applies to all the trees there from a sprouting acorn upwards."
