When storms and heavy rain arrive, often local flooding can occur as a direct result.
There are patches within Surrey Heath, however, where there is persistent flooding affecting residents. Michael Gove MP and Cllr Paul Deach, Surrey County Councillor for Mytchett, Frimley Green & Deepcut, visited two areas where this is a problem to get to the route cause of the issue.
Commenting, Paul said:
"It was great to spend a couple of hours with MP for Surrey Heath Michael Gove. When it comes to flooding issues, there are occasions when Thames Water is involved and it is incredibly helpful to have high level access to decision makers at Thames Water.
"Michael has this access and uses it very effectively as has recently been the case in Camberley with the sewage works. Despite what some are bizarrely claiming, it was Michael who resolved that issue.
"Following meetings today with local residents, I have requested that the drainage investigations unit Surrey County Council mobilise at Willow Close and Gresham Way to get to the route cause of the issues there.
"Once we have a clearer picture as to what is causing the issues, then we can look at possible solutions. I will of course report back following the outcome of the drainage investigations team."
Michael added:
"Earlier today, I was out and about with Cllr Paul Deach, braving the cold in Frimley Green, Mytchett and Deepcut. We first visited Willow Close in Mytchett to discuss the persistent flooding issues affecting residents, before stopping off for lunch at The Frog Pub in Deepcut. We then went on to Gresham Way in Frimley Green to talk about the flooding problems there.
"As many will know, Paul works incredibly hard on behalf of residents, and I am hugely grateful for all work he does."
