Ahead of this year's Local Elections, Surrey Heath Conservatives have set our 6 Point Plan to make our borough an even better place to live.
1. Investing in our Green Spaces
We've already helped to win Green Flag Awards for Lightwater Country Park and Frimley Lodge, and we will continue to improve and maintain our public open spaces for all residents, by refurbishing local playground facilities with new accessible equipment, resurfacing our tennis courts and skate parks, and ensuring our local sports teams and clubs have a place to play and develop.
2. Protecting our most vulnerable residents
One of our upmost priorities is protecting our vulnerable residents and young people across Surrey Heath. We have a proven track record of caring for those within the Borough, supporting community initiatives like the Free Food Stall on the Old Dean, investing into community support with the Hope Hub, Meals on Wheels, and community transport - we want to carry on improving services.
3. Tackling crime and anti-social behaviour
Violent crime and anti-social behaviour has been reduced in our area by 19% alone in January 2023, and with Government investment into Surrey Police and increasing the number of officers on the streets, we can build further on a successful record of delivery.
4. Investing in businesses across Surrey Heath
Our plan is to improve business across the Borough through prudent financial management, diligent investment and transparency with our accounts.
5. Controlling overdevelopment across the Borough
Surrey Heath is home to several Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) such as Brentmoor Heath, Special Areas of Conversation and part of the Thames Basin Heath Special Protection Area with Barossa Common and Ash Ranges.
We are committed to protecting our environment, preserving and enhancing our natural assets, through careful planning whilst meeting the needs and priorities of local people with affordable housing and new infrastructure.
6. Improving our roads
Whilst roads fall under the responsibility of Surrey County Council, through working in partnership with our County Councillors we can ensure that Surrey Heath receives it's fair share of repairs to maintain our roads.
