Surrey County Council Conservatives have introduced a new discount bus fare scheme for young people. Those aged 20 and under will be able to get 50% of all bus journeys across in the county.
This scheme will see a new ‘LINK’ card launched, which can be shown on any bus in Surrey, that will allow young residents to qualify for the discount on all single and return journeys.
There are two types of LINK card, one for those under 16, and one for those aged over 16.
For the under 16 card, a young person will need to ask a parent, guardian or carer to apply on their behalf. The LINK card will be valid for a maximum of 3 years or until their 16th birthday. This will then need to renewed every 3 years, or once you are over 16, an individual will need to re-apply for an over-16 card.
For the over 16 card, the LINK card will be valid until the day before their 21st birthday. An individual can apply up to 28 days before your 21st birthday.
Further information and applications for the LINK card scheme can be found here.
