Ed McGuinness joined Trefor Hogg, Surrey County Councillor for Camberley East, on the Old Dean to discuss the Social Housing Regulation Act, 2023, and how this legislation will help improve standards on social housing and hold landlords to account for their failings.
The Act, introduced by Surrey Heath's previous Member of Parliament, Michael Gove, makes provisions about the regulation of social housing, the terms of approved schemes for the investigation of housing complaints, and provided greater powers and duties for the regulatory body to enforce legal action against housing associations and local authorities that are letting tenants down.
Commenting, Ed said:
"Every single person in this country, irrespective of where they are from, what they do or how much they earn, deserves to live in a home that is decent, safe and secure.
"I’m determined to drive the improvements we need, whilst safeguarding precious green spaces and ensuring upgrades to infrastructure."
