Residents across the county have re-elected Lisa Townsend as the Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey.
Since first being elected three years ago, Lisa has been a strong force in transforming policing here in Surrey, with our county seeing an increase in police officer numbers, better community safety and a more robust response to crime.
Lisa's commitment to a "back to basics" policing has led to notable reductions in crime rates. By prioritising frontline policing and focusing on core responsibilities, Surrey Police has been able to address the issues that matter most to residents.
During the re-election campaign, Lisa's contribution to significant national policing reforms, such as the Right Care, Right Person initiative, and her collaboration with the Government to tackle anti-social behaviour, including measures like the ban on laughing gas (NOS) canisters, was highlighted, demonstrating how Lisa was the only party political candidate able to deliver meaningful change for better policing across Surrey.
Looking ahead, Lisa has pledged to continue her focus on critical areas. She has promised to ensure Surrey Police concentrate on their fundamental duty—investigating and solving crimes. Lisa has emphasised the importance of officers not being burdened with tasks that detract from their central role, such as excessive time spent on non-crime related incidents.
Lisa is also dedicated to being a strong voice for victims, advocating for their needs throughout the Criminal Justice System and ensuring they receive the support they require. Her commitment extends to making policing more accessible to residents, promising faster and more efficient responses and reducing bureaucratic delays.
As Lisa embarks on another term as Surrey's Police and Crime Commissioner, she is set on building upon her achievements to create a safer and more secure environment for all residents. Her re-election is not just a personal victory, but a clear mandate from the residents of Surrey to continue the progress and policies that have already brought significant improvements to the community's safety and well-being.
