The picture above is taken from the 2021 Index of Multiple Deprivation - darker blues indicate households are more likely to experience more issues relating to Health, Income, Education, Training & Skills etc.
This week we gave a briefing session for SHBC's Community Officers covering the actions taken by and for the community to support households in Old Dean and bring about lasting change. Some of the organisations involved in delivering that are Surrey County Council, SHBC, the NHS, Old Dean Community Group, St Martin's Church, local Schools, @THEOLDDEANREC but there are many others.
Just a few of the actions taken are:
- Children's Playground renewed thanks to money raised in the community and from Accent
- Old Dean's Free Food Stall jointly run by Old Dean Community Group and St Martin's
- NHS focus on population health and support plus bringing people with health issues back into employment
- Camberley Library Outreach
- Digital Skills Support
- Cooking Lessons with the Hope Hub
- Cordwalles Junior School Mindfulness Area, Polytunnel, Tree Planting and more
- Community run Junior Library by @THEOLDDEANREC which has just launched. It took a long time and a lot of work to make that happen.
- #ClubDean providing a Youth Club run with support from Camberley Youth for Christ
- Cllr Trefor Hogg
