Crawley Ridge - the vehicle speed study's results are now in. All measurements collected during the week beginning 10th June 2024.
The important number is the 85% of vehicles one. The results show that a simple signage only speed limit of 20mph for Crawley Ridge will not be suitable. Some further actions will also be needed to reduce vehicle speeds.
That 85% figure is also showing that over 15% of the vehicles using Crawley Ridge are exceeding the current 30mph speed limit. Even directly outside the schools, the limit is not being obeyed and some of those vehicles will be well over the speed limit.
I have put Crawley Ridge into the Surrey wide ITS projects list as my nomination to Surrey Highways based on the results of the petition by residents and because of the two schools there. The speed study results indicate that choice was clearly justified. I'm hoping that with the speed study results, it will be enough to get my nomination up near the top of the list so it gets funded. If not I intend to make it my main project next year.
Keeping our young people safe is a major priority for me with safety improvements to Crawley Ridge and the speed reduction in Gibbet Lane. I'm also aiming to deliver the changes residents have asked for on the A30.
