It was fantastic to visit a few of the fairs across the villages today in Surrey Heath! The first was Pirbright Village Fair today which was excellent. It was great to see the Paris Olympic displays and managed to get to the tombola and, of course, get a picture with Louis the St. Bernard!
It was particularly good to speak with The Pirbright Institute and hear about the cutting edge work they are doing on livestock diseases. Heroic.
The second fair I visited today was the fabulous West End Village Fete with Michael Gove, where I met some of the local Councillors like Adrian Page. It was great to see some of the crafts and I joined the West End Social Club trying my hand at some Archery. I was a Gunner officer so normally the ranges are a lot longer(!) but I think the second highest score was a good consolation!
The final stop on the fairs yesterday was the excellent Windlesham Village Fete! Such amazing stalls and great to meet community champions in the Neighbourhood Watch and Royal British Legion. Also got the chance to sit in one of the fabulous classic cars on show and see John Medhurst's amazing shire horses!
